| The History as we know it!
In September 2003 a four year old boy fell into the duck pond that Matthew drowned in. A gardener heard the young lad and rescued him from drowning. The Health and Safety put a temporary three foot fence around the pond to stop anyone else from falling in. The Health and Safety then went to find legislation on open water attractions so that they could make recommendations but found there wasn't any. Because there wasn't any legislation the Health and Safety had no rights so just made recommendations to put chicken wire around the (already existing) one foot fence, this was to stop toddlers from crawling under, and a sign on the pond to say all children must be accompanied by an adult. Matthew was just 2 ½ and easily stepped over the one foot fence to his death! Tomorrow another toddler could fall into the same pond that Matthew drowned in and still no one will be held responsible! This is why we need legislation to make sure Employees (entertainment Companies) and individuals are held responsible for the safety of others. Let the Government stop pumping money into anti cigarette smoking commercials and spend it on the public that are unwittingly at risk of death! Doubling the tax on cigarettes will help towards stopping people smoking and this in turn will leave more room in the Hospitals for the people without self inflicted illnesses! I am not suggesting that a smoker should not get treatment in any way because I am a strong believer in everyone having an equal chance at being given good health care. What I am trying to get over is that most adults can take responsibility for their own actions, the few that can not and the children need looking after! |
